Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is one of the most common infections in women of childbearing age, with a recurrence rate of up to 50% within 3 months of a conventional course of antibiotics. The root of the problem is often the so-called biofilm created by the bacterium Gardnerella vaginalis, which is resistant to treatments and promotes the return of the infection.
The Polybactum ® vaginal suppository is a targeted, mucoadhesive medical device specifically developed to protect the vagina and prevent the recurrence of bacterial vaginal infections. It forms a protective film on the vaginal mucosa, which acts as a mechanical barrier to prevent the colonization and proliferation of pathogens, especially Gardnerella vaginalis.
How does it work? – The triple effect
Polybactum’s ® patented formula works on three levels for maximum protection:
- Selective bacteriostatic effect (lauryl glucoside): It specifically inhibits the growth of Gardnerella vaginalis, while sparing the beneficial lactobacilli that provide the vaginal flora’s natural defenses – such as L. crispatus.
- Mucoadhesive and Protective Effect (Polycarbophilic): Polycarbophile is an ingredient with strong bioadhesive properties that adheres to the vaginal mucosa to create a durable protective layer (remaining for up to 72 hours). This film prevents pathogens from forming a biofilm again during the entire turnover period of the upper epithelial cells.
- pH modulating effect (polycarbophilic): It helps restore and maintain the vagina’s natural, acidic pH, which creates an unfavorable environment for pathogens and supports the rebuilding of beneficial lactobacillus flora.
Clinically proven effect
An international, open-label clinical trial called POLARIS has proven the efficacy of Polybactum ®.
- Significantly reduced recurrence rate: After 3 Polybactum ® cycles following antibiotic treatment, only 14.8% of patients recurred, compared to the 40-50% rate reported in the literature.
- Long-lasting protection: 10 months after the end of treatment, 34.28% of the women in the study were still completely symptom-free, which proves the long-term effectiveness of the product.
- Supports vaginal flora: The study showed that the use of Polybactum ® had a beneficial effect on the concentration of vaginal lactobacilli in 66.7% of women, thus helping to restore the natural defenses.
- Excellent safety profile: During the study, it was found to be extremely safe, no side effects associated with the product were reported. It is also compatible with latex condoms.

Dosage
In the first week after antibiotic treatment: 1 vaginal suppository every 3 days (days 1, 4, 7) On day 1, the product should be applied within 12 to 24 hours after antibiotic treatment.
Then repeat the treatment after two consecutive menstrual cycles, a total of 9 inch suppositories are required, there are 3 inch suppositories in one box
